Generation One – prevention of Alzheimer’s

Study summary

Generation 1 is a study testing whether two new treatments are able to prevent or delay the onset of symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease

Who can take part?

You can take part if you are 65 – 75 years old

What will the research involve?

Part one – Volunteers attend events for a 35 – 45 minute session with the research nurse where they will hear more about the study and what is involved. If volunteers then wish to consent to part one then a mouth swab would be taken to test for a double gene.

Part Two – a small number of volunteers are asked back to discuss genetic status and see if they wish to take part in part three – which is the clinical trial to test two new treatments.

Volunteers who take part in Two and Three will receive travel expenses and lunch




Where will the research take place?

Part one (Pre-screening) will take place in Prestwich or Manchester next to the Manchester Royal Infirmary

Part two and three will take place at the Clinical Research Facility in Manchester
